playing fetch 185/365

playing fetch 185/365, originally uploaded by laurasjoquist.

Maybe you’ve heard, we got this new dog from the pound.

When we first brought her home she was nervous and a little drugged up from the spay operation. But in the last few days she has really come out of her shell. Chasing rabbits, getting belly rubs and playing fetch, she does it all so well.

Oh, and pooping. She’s pretty good at that too.

The next few photos for 365 days are brought to you by really nice weather. The neighbors are pretty awesome and let us hang out at their pool this holiday weekend making splashes and drinking beers. Usually we take our first camping trip of the summer on Memorial Day Weekend. But this year a wedding kept us in town and I have to say it’s been a great weekend so far.

past the half way mark butterfly 183/365

If anyone else out there is keeping track besides me, photo 183 puts me past the half way mark for 365 days. Yay!

I was out biking on the the stone bridge path (which rocks by the way) and got lucky. I was taking pictures of flowers along the path for my photo of the day when this butterfly wandered into my shot. It was fortuitous.

And Yay! again.

another rabbit 182/365

another rabbit 182/365, originally uploaded by laurasjoquist.

Rabbits like to hang out in my front yard and eat bird food. Weird. I took this with the telephoto lens I borrowed from my father-in-law and still haven’t returned yet. Using the telephoto lens means that I can sit inside on the floor by the door in my pajamas and take pictures. Cause I’m lazy that way.

Sarah 180/365

This is our new-used dog. Jack and picked her up at the shelter last Wednesday. She is about 2 years old and very well mannered. Her worst habit is barking at rabbits. I cannot figure out why someone got rid of her. Super cute, totally potty trained, very friendly and she doesn’t shed. She is kind of the perfect dog and yet someone looked at her one day and said-I just don’t want her around anymore. That’s sad, and also says something about people. And that something isn’t good.

baseball 179/365

baseball 179/365, originally uploaded by laurasjoquist.

Jack, John and I spent a little time at the Beloit Snapper’s baseball game on Sunday. It was really hot and they were really losing, so we didn’t last much longer than it took to drink a beer and eat some ice cream. But it was nice to sit on the bleachers in the sun with a foamy beer and think about all the other people in America doing the exact same thing. How can you not love the US in the summertime?

I harvested the first of the lettuce today from the garden and made a little salad for dinner. Yum.

Jack had his first grade music program on Friday. The kids were all as cute as heck. It was a rather patriotic theme.

bottle caps 173/365

bottle caps 173/365, originally uploaded by laurasjoquist.

I finally found a use for all the bottle caps collected over the years. I found some glass candle holders and filled the bottoms. The original plan was to glue them all to a car, but since I don’t think I’ll have a junker anytime soon….

There was an embarrassing amount of Miller Lite and Rolling Rock caps in the collection.

The chives have an evil plot to take over the whole front garden bed.
