I went to Jack’s school to see the Halloween parade. What’s the best part about Halloween costumes? Black tights and boots. Everybody looks good in black tights and boots.

Haven’t posted in awhile so I’m just posting first and last pictures of the set of days. Not much interesting in between anyway.

This is a shot of Jack’s breakfast giving him a smile to start the day.

new shoes 333/365

Jack got some new sneakers today. According to the shoe box these are the things he can now do in his new shoes. On the other side (not pictured) he is informed that he can also use his new shoes to escape, but not for swimming. And they don’t require batteries.

You’re never too young to start hanging out in coffee houses writing in journals while your mom has a nice glass of wine and your dad surfs the free internet. Bushel and Peck in Beloit rocks in so many ways not the least of which is great cheap red wine and couscous and Jack’s favorite root beer.

I brought this rosemary in from outside. I’m hoping it can survive my brown thumb over the winter.

I was working in the backyard fixing a grading problem while the weather was nice. Now it’s raining and I have a huge pile of dirt in the front yard waiting to be put some where else.

apria lunch ladies 329/365

apria lunch ladies 329/365, originally uploaded by laurasjoquist.

Once a month the unemployed of Apria meet for lunch. I’ve been lucky enough to join them on the last two occasions. It’s nice to see everyone getting on with their lives, laughing, looking relaxed and excited about the future. This was my first lay off, and even though I was glad to be done with the company and happy they were paying me to leave, it was still the worst 6 months of my working life experience-and I’ve had some pretty stressful and or shitty jobs before. I always say that I’m not a people person, but I have to admit I do miss having co-workers. I’m glad they let me hang out with them still occasionally.

indoor herb garden 328/365

indoor herb garden 328/365, originally uploaded by laurasjoquist.

The backyard garden and the farmers market got us all used to easily accessible, fresh herbs. So we’re attempting to grow a little indoor herb garden this winter. So far I’ve planted a pepper, cilantro and parsley. And I brought in the potted rosemary from outside. Mmm-mmm good chicken tacos with avocado, lime and fresh cilantro. Can’t wait.

pretzel buns 327/365

John wanted to make something warm and delicious with the oven to make the house cozy and smelling of goodness. We decided to make pretzel rolls. Tastes like a pretzel, functions like a bun.
